A Boutique Salon for Independent Stylists – Now renting

Welcome!

No doubt you’re curious about what become of “the pink building” on Main Street that has stood as a beacon for the international space station to locate Lombard from orbit for nearly two decades.

~

Established in 2025, Main Street Beauty Company is boutique salon looking for stylists that value their independence from traditional commission based salons but still want that sense of community you can’t get isolated in a salon suite. Unlike the old model salons that take a part of every service you provide, Main Street Beauty will be a chair rental at a flat rate. You rent the space and everything you earn is your own. You decide your hours, your rates, your clients, your path.

All of the perks of running your own business without the hassle of being run by your business.

What makes us different from other salons?

While the primary focus and design of many salons is geared solely toward the clientele, we wanted to also make sure to prioritize the comfort and environment of us as stylists that work hard and spend long hours on our feet. We have dedicated a large portion of the building to making sure the you have enough personal space to work and take a break in peace. Our vision was to make a place that is equally as nice to work at as it is to visit. These include:

designed for stylists, by a stylist

A Private kitchen space that is separate from the salon area so that you can take a break and eat/doom-scroll in peace.

A separate laundry room so you aren’t sharing your lunch with the washer/dryer. Unless you find that ‘whirr-splash-rumble’ soundtrack soothing – in which case, by all means.

A private, stylist-only bathroom, because your clients don’t have to share everything with you.

Full sized lockers for all your product and gear, minus the high school angst.

Hi there, I’m Rachel

A lifelong Dupage resident who has called Lombard home for over a decade after growing up in Villa Park.

Like most stylists, I came up through the traditional commission based salons that took a percentage of everything I earned and left me with essentially an hourly wage plus tips. The friends I made and the education I received during my years in commission salons was invaluable, and it helped me realize that if I worked hard and went out on my own the sky could be the limit! For the last 11 years I have operated out of a small individual suite in Wheaton, and it has been wonderful running my own business and being able to do things how I wanted with no cap on how much I could earn. When this property became available I thought it was time to realize a new dream and bring it home to Lombard.

After over 19 years in the industry, I’ve learned a lot from the salons that I’ve had the opportunity to work at and from the mentors and clients who have become friends. But as with any place you work, there are always some big and some small things you would change if you could. Over the years I’ve saved up all these changes and hope to bring them to Main Street Beauty Collective. My focus is equally on the comfort and experience of the clientele and the stylists in order to create the space I’ve always dreamed of.

When I’m at home you can find me gardening, reading, in the kitchen cooking or baking, or snuggling with my two cats. I have a love for traveling when I get the chance, and typically speak of the places I’ve gone by the best local dishes I had there.

Whether you’re a veteran stylist that’s been on their own for years, or are a stylist looking to make the leap into independence, I look forward to the opportunity to get to know you and perhaps work alongside you!
